Terms of Use

These terms apply when you access or use Volunteen. By using the service, you agree to follow them. If you do not agree, do not use Volunteen.

Who may use Volunteen

Volunteen is intended for Fremont-area high school students age 13 and older. If you are under 18, use the service with the knowledge of a parent or guardian and obtain any permission required by your family, school, or the volunteer organization.

What Volunteen provides

Volunteen helps students discover volunteer opportunities, keep a personal record of service hours, submit opportunity suggestions, and, for certain listings, request a spot through Volunteen.

Volunteen is an independent student-created community project. Unless a listing explicitly says otherwise, Volunteen is not the volunteer organization, school, or government agency offering the opportunity and does not speak for it.

Opportunity registration

• Organization-run registration: Some listings require you to apply through an outside website, form, email address, or phone number. Opening that route or saving the listing on Volunteen does not mean you are registered.
• Volunteen registration: A listing that specifically offers Volunteen registration may show a signup, waitlist, or confirmation status in your account. Even then, the organization may have additional requirements, waivers, age limits, or final approval.
• You are responsible for checking current details and following the organization's instructions before attending.

Volunteer hours

Hours logged on Volunteen are self-reported and provided for personal tracking. They are not official school verification. You are responsible for obtaining any signatures, forms, or proof required by your school or volunteer organization. Do not enter false or misleading records.

Your responsibilities

When using Volunteen, you agree to:

• provide accurate information and use only your own account;
• respect signup limits and cancel a spot you no longer plan to use;
• follow safety instructions, laws, and organization requirements;
• not misuse, disrupt, probe, or attempt unauthorized access to the service;
• not submit harmful, deceptive, unlawful, or privacy-invasive content; and
• not misrepresent Volunteen as officially approving an organization or opportunity.

Safety and outside organizations

Volunteering can involve travel, physical activity, tools, animals, environmental conditions, or interaction with other people. Review each opportunity carefully, involve a parent or guardian when appropriate, and contact the organization with safety or accessibility questions.

Outside organizations control their own programs, websites, forms, decisions, and conduct. Volunteen cannot guarantee placement, availability, safety, eligibility, organization approval, or school acceptance of hours.

Listing accuracy

We try to use reliable sources and keep listings current, but schedules, requirements, contact information, and availability can change. A "verified" label refers to our review of listing information; it is not FUSD approval, a safety certification, or an endorsement. Confirm important details with the organization before relying on a listing.

Account restrictions

We may limit or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, prevent abuse, comply with law, or enforce these terms. You may stop using Volunteen at any time and may request account deletion using the contact information below.

Service availability and responsibility

Volunteen is provided on an "as available" basis. We may change, pause, or discontinue features and cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the extent permitted by law, Volunteen is not responsible for indirect losses or for the independent actions of schools, volunteer organizations, other users, or outside websites.

Nothing in these terms excludes rights or responsibilities that cannot legally be excluded.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Volunteen changes. We will post the revised version here and update the date at the top. Continuing to use Volunteen after an update means you accept the revised terms.
