Volunteer Opportunities

Hayward Animal Services is accepting new shelter volunteers. Youth ages 10-15 can volunteer but must come in with an adult over 18. Ages 16-17 do not need an adult present, but an adult must sign off on their intake forms and fingerprinting. Staff can sign school community service hour forms by hand.

Work with rescued native wildlife at Sulphur Creek: animal care, education and docent work, and gardening. Because volunteers work closely with the animals, the center asks for a minimum one-year commitment.

Help animals in a lot of different ways: fostering kittens, running donation drives, making craft items, or helping with social media. Pet Therapy visits are open to volunteers 15 and older; other activities welcome younger students with a parent helping out.
